Alarming guitars meet driving offbeats, deep basslines, dub sounds and
catchy melodies: "Heavy Reggae Rockers" is what Paprika Korps call their style.
In Poland they are among the most popular reggae acts. On
21st September 2007, their 5th studio album "Magnetofon" will be released in Germany.
"In my own humble opinion: This is the best
album we've recorded so far", says Paprika's singer and keyboarder Piotr
Maslanka. However, Piotr is not alone with this appreciation: since the release of Magnetofon in Poland earlier this year, the polish music press has printed enthusiastic reviews.
True, Magnetofon is a typical Paprika record, sporting the band's characteristic mix of rock
elements and offbeat rhythms, enriched with subtle sound details -
but in an outstandingly exciting and catchy manner: "Evey song is a
surprising musical journey. To describe every little detail it would take a scientific paper", polish magazine GW wrote. The red line are still "all these amazing melodies", TYLKO ROCK points out. The album features guests like Pablopavo of
Vavamuffin, who are regarded as the polish Seeed.
Magnetofon will be available in Germany, Austria, Swiss and BeNeLux as
well as on all major digital donwload platforms world wide: eMusic,
iTunes, Musicload, finetunes, Napster and many more.
DZIENNIK:
Sometimes a sharp guitar riff appears in the vibrating reggae rhythm – elsewhere you can here a rock reference enriching the schematic reggae formula in a fantastic way. From a theoretical point of view this means nothing new, but when Paprika Korps is playing it sounds exciting. (...)
GW: Every song is a surprising musical journey. To describe every little detail it wouFREECOL: To me the guys from Opole always were a "restless" Band, all the time at pains to keep on searching. Now they got to a phase more dedicated to the reggae. (...) A record's high light is the exciting song "Decide" (Zdecydujcie się) with very intelligent lyrics. TYLKO ROCK: (...) all these amazing melodies should be mentioned (...) Songs like "Welcome Home" (supported by Pablopavo of "Vavamuffin") or "Decide"
(Zdecydujcie się) for sure are hits for the dance floor.
